Conveyor Examples - Plied Rubber
Plied Rubber Belting is the root that modern belting springs from. Thin woven fabrics are plied with various natural and synthetic rubbers. SBR is a synthetic rubber that is inexpensive and has excellent elastomeric properties. It’s also generally the least expensive. Nitrile rubber (NBR) is the best elastomer for thick oil resistant food-grade belting. Carboxylated Nitrile (XNBR) has extraordinary abrasion and cut resistance, due to its highly cross-linked structure. Natural rubber belting is unique in its non-marking and gripping ability. Butyl rubber is a heat resistant rubber that is available in a typical 3-ply belt. A Teflon-faced belt is also available, but it is only for release of sticky goods – not for high temperature resistance. High temperature Silicone rubber is available on thinner fiberglass fabrics.
Plied Rubber Belting is not only American made, but is among the least expensive belting you can buy. The disadvantages? Higher horsepower requirements and an adhesive splice that is not as smooth or flexible as a melted thermoplastic splice. If you require a Clipper laced metal joint however, Plied Rubber Belting is a good bet.
