Interwoven belting preceded nonwoven belting. By allowing the yarns to weave over the full thickness of the belt, the number of yarn interlacings was reduced, as was the angle off horizontal the yarns made. The result was a dramatically stronger "1-ply" fabric that had the same bulk as a plied rubber belt. It also had another benefit in that it could be more easily saturated by elastomer “rubbers”. This meant it could be impregnated by faster running machinery.

Occurring at the same time was the rise of PVC elastomer. PolyVinylChloride is considerably less expensive than synthetic or natural rubber elastomers. The result of this synchronicity has remained solid over the years. Interwoven PVC belting is a staple of the conveying marketplace. A sturdy, strong, inexpensive, American-made belt.
